Forrester Savell’s work as both a producer and mixer keeps collecting accolades and selling units. Having claimed ARIA Gold records for Dead Letter Circus, Karnivool and The Butterfly Effect albums, and ARIA nominations for Dead Letter Circus and Floating Me, Forrester is one of the most sought after Australian producers/mixers. NZ band I Am Giant debuted at #2 with their Forrester produced and mixed record The Horrifying Truth, while recent work for Siren Towers, Floating Me, and Calling All Cars and mixes for Grey Ghost, Mark of Cain, and a host of international acts, gained airplay and attention. Meanwhile the Karnivool and Dead Letter Circus records just keep on selling and gaining airplay locally and internationally.
A star graduate of the West Australian Academy of Performing Arts in 2000, Forrester Savell moved to Melbourne where he quickly made a name for himself at South Melbourne’s acclaimed Metropolis Studios. During his time at Metropolis, Forrester worked closely with a range of big-name bands and artists, including the likes of Sum41, Something for Kate, Alex Lloyd, and through to Birtles Shorrock Goble, Delta Goodrem and Pete Murray.
In 2003, Forrester was invited to Los Angeles for a six-month period to work at the famous NRG Studios in North Hollywood. Here he co-produced and engineered on the Columbia record, Full Scale with uber-producer Jay Baumgardner (Evanescence) and engineer John Ewing Jr (Tonic, Sugar Ray). During this time, he was also privileged to engineer for the legendary Helmet on their Size Matters album.
Since then, Forrester has produced and mixed albums for many top Australian and overseas acts. Highlights include Aussie prog heavyweights Karnivool’s album, Sound Awake, which reached Gold status and earned him an ARIA nomination for production, as well as producing the Gold-selling Final Conversation of Kings for Brisbane’s The Butterfly Effect. Australia’s biggest band, Birds Of Tokyo, then commissioned him to mix their cult live album, The Broken Strings Tour. Forrester was also nominated for a 2010 ARIA for Dead Letter Circus’s debut, This Is The Warning – an album which has seen them garner critical acclaim, a Gold sales accreditation, and massive international success. Forrester also recorded and produced their follow-up record, The Catalyst Fire, which debuted at #2 on the ARIA album charts. As an engineer Forrester was also taken abroad once again to Los Angeles to engineer Human Nature’s Reach Out: The Motown Record which went Platinum five times.
Now one of Australia’s most in-demand producers, Forrester is now based out of Melbourne, where he continues to produce and mix records for some of the best new Australian and international artists, including the latest Shihad album FVEY, Antiskeptic’s latest effort Stare Down The Ocean, a stream of triple j hits for The Occupants, and the second record for NZ’s other favourite rockers, I Am Giant, which was recorded in France.
